The TV anime adaptation of comedy manga When Will Ayumu Make His Move? will air in July 2022!

Mirai Minato ( Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense ) will direct with character design by Kazuya Hirata. Silver Link ( My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! ) will produce the series.

Inspired by Soichiro Yamamoto's manga of the same name, When Will Ayumu Make His Move? follows a boy named Ayumu Tanaka, who joins his high school shogi club after falling in love with a girl in the year above, Urushi Yaotome. Ayumu is determined to confess his feelings when he wins a game, but he’s still just a beginner and Urushi always beats him…

Yamamoto is best known for his previous hit manga, Teasing Master Takagi-san, in which middle-schooler Nishikata is continually pranked by Takagi, his deskmate who has a crush on him, while he tries to get revenge.
