Live Action Inuyashiki Film Wins Grand Prize at 2018 Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival!

The live action film adaptation of Oku Hiroya’s science fiction manga Inuyashiki has won the Golden Raven at the 2018 Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival!

The film was directed by Satou Shinsuke, who is well known for the live action Gantz movie, the original work for which was also created by Oku.

Like the original manga, the movie follows Inuyashiki Ichirou (played by Kinashi Noritake), an aging salaryman who is put down both by society and his own family. After finding out he has terminal cancer, it looks like his life will end in a pathetic and quiet manner... until a mysterious object falling from space gives him a second chance at life.

The film also stars Satou Takeru as Shishigami Hiro, the murderous antagonist of the film who undegoes the same transformation as Inuyashiki.

Inuyashiki opens in theaters in Japan on Apr. 20.
