Pikachu Visits Kyoto for Local Sweets Collab!

Your reasons to visit Kyoto has just increased by one, as Shogoin’s main yatsuhashi (sweets made with bean paste, a Kyoto specialty) store has announced a collaboration with the unforgettable Pokémon anime! The Pokémon Yatsuhashi (Matcha Assortment) will be available in the Kyoto Pokémon Center from June 17 and end of June in the rest of Kansai for 600 yen.

The box features Pikachu standing under a blooming sakura tree with Kyoto’s streets in the background, and it even includes a postcard with the same design~

Founded in 1689, Shogoin’s Yatsuhashi flagship store has a long history and invaluable experience in making these sweets, and they are also very open to anime collaborations. They have sold yatsuhashi with Puella Magi Madoka Magica in 2012, Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha in 2014, and Detective Conan in 2016.

The Pokémon anime is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and a new movie titled, I Choose You! is set to hit theaters on July 15. Till then, what better way to pass the time than munching on Poké-sweets while revisiting the previous series?
