Come to Aqua Park Shinagawa and experience hanami (cherry blossom viewing) in a way you’ve never seen before! Between March 4 and April 16 they’ll be holding the event “Sakura Aquarium by Naked” that couples wa (“harmony,” a Japanese cultural concept) with “digital.”
One of the methods Aqua Park Shinagawa uses to engage their visitors and guide them through the mysteries of the underwater world is projection mapping. This technology makes it possible for them to create seasonal performances and add something new each time, which the aquarium puts great importance on.
The theme of the event this time is “an entirely new hanami experience”! This means they’ll use projection mapping to turn the interior into a sea of sakura, surround the Dolphin Performance (Night) with cherry trees in full bloom, and have petals dancing at the guests’ feet to make them feel immersed in sakura blossoms as opposed to just watching them.
By creating a space where traditional Japanese culture meets modern technology, Aqua Park Shinagawa offers a unique experience where you can enjoy a different, but just as beautiful hanami. A great program to check out with friends, family or even alone if you happen to be in the area~
