Neko Mart is a specialty store for cat lovers, run by Kiddy Land Co., Ltd.'s Kansai area flagship store Kiddy Land Osaka Umeda. It's a popular haunt with cat fans, and thanks to the continued devotion of its customers, November 2016 marks its third anniversary. To celebrate and thank customers for supporting it through the years, Neko Mart is holding its Neko Mart 3rd Anniversary Festival from Saturday, Nov. 19 to Saturday, Dec. 31.
Neko Mart's third anniversary celebrations focus on Natsume's Book of Friends, and it will be opening the "Natsume's Book of Friends Nyanko-sensei Shop" for a limited time only. Natsume's Book of Friends is an extremely popular manga series with over 11 million copies in print. Since it was adapted into a TV anime series in 2008, it's earned a loyal following of fans of all ages. The series' fifth season, titled Natsume's Book of Friends Five, started airing in October 2016. At the Natsume's Book of Friends pop-up shop, customers will be able to get their paws on original Neko Mart products starring the popular Nyanko-sensei character famous for his adorably roly-poly physique, and there will also be special gifts available for anyone who makes a purchase at the shop. Nyanko-sensei will also be taking over the Neko Mart windows, waiting to greet customers with that mischievous wink of his! (ゝ∀･)
Special items like the "Neko Monyaka" (a monaka wafer cake filled with bean jam containing gummy candy, konpeito sugar candy, and higashi candy made from high quality wasanbon sugar) will be available for purchase during the event. Neko Mart is a specialty store for cat lovers, offering a variety of cat-themed items including cat character goods and miscellaneous cat items. If you happen to be a cat lover, you're sure to feel soothed the second you walk into this very special shop that's just bursting with catitude! This much-anticipated store was first opened on Nov. 22, 2013 (a date that can be pronounced as ii nya nya in Japanese, meaning "good meow"), and it's located on the first floor of Kiddy Land Osaka Umeda.

★ Get Your Paws on Special "Neko Monyaka"! ★
■ The "Neko Monyaka" is a monaka (a Japanese sweet consisting of azuki bean jam sandwiched between two crisp mochi wafers) with gummy candy, konpeito sugar candy, and higashi candy made from high quality wasanbon sugar. Once you've devoured the sweets inside this tasty treat, simply place the mochi wafers on top of each other to create a monaka made with azuki beans from Hokkaido! The yellow bell-shaped sweet is a squishy Japanese-style marshmallow called houzui, and it's made using traditional methods from Kyoto.
・Neko Monyaka: ¥1,000 (plus tax)
● The cat- and paw-shaped gummy candies are made using special quality agar-agar produced in Japan. (The cat-shaped candies are strawberry flavour, and the paw-shaped candies are yuzu flavour.)
● The higashi candy are made using high quality wasanbon sugar. Enjoy the sophisticated flavour and melt-in-your-mouth texture of these traditional candies.
● The aromatic baked wafers of the monaka are made from mochi rice grown in Japan's Niigata Prefecture.
● The bean jam is made using azuki beans grown in Hokkaido.
● The yellow bell-shaped sweet is a squishy Japanese-style marshmallow called houzui, and it's made using traditional methods from Kyoto. The design printed on this sweet features a hiding cat. (Maybe it's a scaredy-cat!)

An original Mewgaroo Hoodie starring Shimiko to Tomoe, a popular manga series on the free manga app Comico, will also be available at the store. (Estimated release date early December.)
