Grand Prix Kyoto 2016, a large event held for the trading card game Magic: The Gathering, is taking place from Sept. 9-11 at Kyoto Pulse Plaza. The format is based around three-person teams. It’s been three years since the team-style Grand Prix has been held in Japan, and with it will come a total of 780 teams.

*The maximum number of participants for this event has been reached, so applications are no longer being accepted. See the official page for more details.
The winning team will receive a total of $15,000, as well as the right to participate in the Pro Tour in Dublin on Feb. 3-5 (as well as aid in getting there!). The highest ranked player will also win $60,000 in prize money along with the possibility of attaining the right to participate in the Pro Tour.
The Grand Prix for Magic stirs up a lot of excitement within Japan. The most recent event, Grand Prix Tokyo 2016, was held from May 6-8. Including attendees of the side events, the total number of participants was 11,439.
