The latest Bandai Fancy Zakka Project products are somehow familiar, but somehow totally different to anything we've ever seen before... That's because these quirky creatures are the result of a collaboration between the Bandai licensed character Kapibara-san and Craftholic, the creator of the popular animal-shaped alien dakimakura. This collaborative collection is a one-off run featuring a limited quantity of 17 products including plushies, accessories, and other items!
A pre-sale of the collaborative products starts Thursday, Sept. 15 at 12 Kapibara-san speciality stores including Kyurutto Shop, Kyurutto Shop K-pocket, and other Kyurutto Shop branch stores (except for the Elm store), and at 7 Craftholic speciality stores including Accent Style and Craftholic.
On the same day, a pre-sale of the items will also start at the Kapibara-san Limited Edition Tokyo Solamachi Store event, and from Wednesday, Sept. 21 the items will get a general release, gradually being made available for purchase at toy stores and other shops across Japan.
■ Product Features
Since Kapibara-san was first created in 2005, the soothing and relaxing character
has starred in all kinds of features and products, especially 4-panel comics and various cute items. Bandai manages the Kapibara-san license, and the companies with license agreements produce a variety of Kapibara-san lifestyle products, stationery, and more, which are widely available for purchase. To create this collection, Bandai teamed up with Craftholic, the company known for its dakimakura in the shape of alien creatures that look like rabbits and other animals. From Sept. 15, Accent Corp. will release a one-off run featuring a limited quantity of a total of 17 products including plushies and various other items. Any customers who spend more than ¥1,000 on Kapibara-san x Craftholic items will receive an original sticker, unique to each store!
The creators of Kapibara-san and the Craftholic designer worked together to make the illustrations that were used to create the products in this collection. The illustrations were inspired by the themes "Alien from planet Craft whose face looks just like Kapibara-san" and "Aliens from planet Craft who became Kapibara-san breeders."
At 85 centimeters long, the "alien from planet Craft” dakimakura is the ideal size for hugs. It's also made from the softest and fluffiest of fabrics, so it might be pretty tricky to let go of once you've started hugging it! The "Kapibara-san breeders" small dakimakura are the perfect combination of Kapibara-san and Craftholic, and it's clear that the incredibly high quality of these dakimakura extends to the tiniest of details.
Pouches, tote bags, and other items decorated with patterns based on specially drawn illustrations by the creators of Kapibara-san will also be available for purchase!
The Story Behind the Kapibara-san and Craftholic Collaboration
The Kapibara-san cuties and the Craftholic creatures first became friends in Midorino Meadow, and since then they were having an amazing time playing together and going on holidays. Then one day, a creature from the planet Craft appeared with a face that looked just like Kapibara-san's face! But its body seemed to be the classic Craft alien body... This unusual new friend loves having fun, and for some reason it has a lot of strange abilities.
