The high-quality G.E.M. series appears on Bandai’s official shopping site, Premium Bandai, and it will now be home to two new figures! These include the protagonists of Digimon Adventure 02 and Digimon Tamers alongside their Digimon partners: Daisuke Motomiya & Veemon, and Guilmon & Takato Matsuda. They’re 7,992 yen each (tax and shipping included, handling separate) and go up for pre-order on Aug. 26. A set which includes both figures (15,336 yen; tax and shipping included, handling separate).

■ About the Figures
More than 16 years have passed since the 1999 anime Digimon Adventure aired, and the protagonists of its second and third seasons, Digimon Adventure 02 and Digimon Tamers, have been recreated for these figures from the G.E.M. series. Daisuke Motomiya appears alongside his partner Digimon Veemon, and Takato Matsuda appears alongside Guilmon.
Daisuke Motomiya & Veemon
Daisuke Motomiya is the protagonist of Digimon Adventure 02 and a member of the soccer club. That passion he’s known for shines through his expression, and he’s posed with Veemon on his back. By switching out different parts, you can also give him a winking face. The important little details like his goggles, clothes, gloves, and shoes were also carefully molded. His Digimon partner Veemon is known for that mischievous personality and looks to be plotting something while carefully set up on Daisuke’s back. Their close friendship is well-captured through this figure.
Takato Matsuda & Guilmon
Takato Matsuda is the gentle and kind protagonist of Digimon Tamers and paired alongside his Digimon Guilmon who’s jumping at him. The included exchangeable parts allow you to change the expression Matsuda has. Matsuda’s trademark goggles, clothes, and shoes have also been carefully recreated. This figure shows off Guilmon’s love for Matsuda and how sweetly Matsuda treats the Digimon. You can set the pair up however you like to enjoy this wonderful friendship!

■ About the G.E.M. Series
Launched in 2009, the G.E.M Series is a collection of 1/8th scale figures of popular characters from anime and manga aimed at female collectors. “G.E.M” has two meanings - the first being “gem” as the figures become much sought-after pieces of treasure, and the other derives from “Girl’s Excellent Model” which reflects the range’s female focus and high quality approach.
■ About Digimon Adventure
This story follows the “DigiDestined” who have suddenly been transported to the Digimon World. It shows each character as they develop friendships with their fellow trainers and their own Digimon, and follows them as they grow. It began airing in March 1999 and became an instant hit among boys and girls nationwide in Japan. It then became a global phenomenon, airing in more than 60 countries starting with North America in August of that year. Sixteen years have since passed, and this popular anime continues to be loved by many people all over. Its film Digimon Adventure tri. Kokuhaku is set to premiere on Sept. 24.
■ About Digimon Adventure 02
This is the second Digimon anime series, and it aired from 2000 through 2001. Serving as a sequel to Digimon Adventure, it was set 3 years after the original series in 2002. It differed from the original work through its anti-killing stance, as even though they fight against enemy Digimon, they don’t kill them.
■ About Digimon Tamers
*Digimon Tamers* is the third season of Digimon, which aired from April 1, 2001 to March 31, 2002 on Fuji TV. It differed greatly from the first and second seasons, Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02. It follows protagonist Takato Matsuda as he fights as a Tamer alongside his partner Guilmon and grows stronger through his friendships. 2016 marks the 15th anniversary of its TV broadcast.
