Fine Japan Co., Ltd. is about to launch three new additions to its range of fortified healthy granola bars in a collaboration with popular cycling manga Yowamushi Pedal. The Yowamushi Pedal Power Food granola bars will be available in three different flavours—chocolate, matcha green tea, and strawberry—and are set to hit shelves in convenience stores, anime shops, and other food-related establishments from Sept. 9.
Yowamushi Pedal is popular manga series which has sold over 16 million copies so far. The Yowamushi Pedal Power Food bars have been designed as if the characters from the manga are helping you power up.
Fine Japan is well known for its fortified granola bars, and three of the series’ most popular characters will be featured on the packaging including the protagonist Sakamichi Ono and his Sohoku High Bicycle Club teammates Yuusuke Makishima and Shoukichi Naruko. Each of the flavours and additional ingredients are also inspired by the characters, and all of the bars also contain superfood chia seeds as well as multivitamins so you can catch up with all those essential nutrients that are easy to miss in your regular diet.
The bars are not solely aimed at children and have a mildly sweet taste that is sure to appeal to adults too. Unlike regular candy bars, these have an active nutritional value which makes them great for sportspeople. See how you feel on the day then pick up the character which most appeals to you!
Each of the bars also features all new packaging designed by Wataru Watanabe which has the characters uttering brand new slogans. Boys on bikes! Yowamushi Pedal
Wataru Watanabe’s Yowamushi Pedal manga has sold over 16 million copies so far and is currently running in Weekly Shonen Champion. The series has found wide support among children and adults alike.
Adapted into a TV anime, theatrical animated movies, and even stage shows, Yowamushi Pedal continues to generate long lines of fans each time a collaborative event is held proving popular with all areas of society. In the summer of 2016, the series also received its first live action drama adaptation, and a spin-off anime, Yowamushi Pedal Spare Bike, will be getting a special presentation in movie theatres in the autumn.
The story begins when anime- and figure-loving otaku Sakamichi Ono is passing through Akihabara and runs into some bicycle racing classmates, eventually becoming completely obsessed with bikes. Set amongst the road racing high school cycling club, Yowamushi Pedal mixes intense sports battles and youth drama. The series is also much loved for its uniquely engaging characters.
