Machicon is a large-scale dating event at which participants are free to drink and eat as much as they like at bars and restaurants around a certain area and hopefully meet the love of their life while they're at it! But it's more fun to hang out with someone who shares at least a few interests, right? Linkbal Inc., the company that manages the Machicon official website Machicon Japan, certainly seems to think so. The Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture is home to the Evangelion Exhibition from Saturday, July 2 to Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, and Linkbal has teamed up with the exhibition to offer the Evacon in Nagasaki event on Saturday, Aug. 27! Evangelion is an incredibly popular anime series that's been adored by fans since it first aired over 20 years ago, and Evacon in Nagasaki gives fans the chance to meet up with fellow Eva lovers.

A collaboration between Evangelion and Machicon, Evacon events are held all over Japan, and around 5,000 Eva fans have taken part so far. They're an opportunity for fans of the series to mingle and hopefully find that special someone who gets their synchro rate soaring! The Evacon in Nagasaki event is a collaboration with Evangelion Exhibition Nagasaki, an exhibition that explains the appeal of this unforgettable masterpiece of Japanese anime. After exploring the exhibition in mixed groups of men and women, participants move on to the bars and restaurants of Amu Plaza Nagasaki and enjoy a gathering where they can look for the partner of their dreams while discussing their favourite thing - Evangelion!

■ About Evangelion
Evangelion is a world-famous franchise that started with the 1995 television series Neon Genesis Evangelion, the 20th anniversary of which was celebrated on Oct. 4, 2015. Set in a world which has suffered an unprecedented disaster known as the Second Impact, Neon Genesis Evangelion tells the story of the 14-year-old boys and girls who become pilots of the humanoid battle weapons Evangelion. Referred to as the Children, the young pilots are sent to fight against successions of Angels, the mysterious enemies that plague the planet. Beginning in 2007 with Rebuild of Evangelion, the Evangelion movie franchise is especially popular with younger generations but remains a firm favourite among all genders and ages. Three movies have been produced so far.
■ About the Evangelion Exhibition
The first ever serious art exhibition for the Evangelion series, the Evangelion Exhibition takes place in Nagasaki on the southern Japanese island of Kyushu. Focusing on the new series of movies, the exhibition features a total of over 1,300 pieces that look back across the history of the series from when it first began to its latest installments. The Evangelion Exhibition painstakingly introduces the process by which these cutting-edge images are created. Around 300 of the pieces are original illustrations used in Evangelion, and the Evangelion Exhibition is the first time that such artworks will be on display. Original illustrations from the latest Evangelion movie, Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, are also on display at the exhibition for the first time. Evangelion fans can get a look at precious items including character reference sheets and prints of original illustrations from Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's manga series. Join popular characters like Shinji Ikari and Rei Ayanami and set off on a vivid journey through the monumental and deeply enigmatic story of Evangelion at the Evangelion Exhibition.
