Wish Upon a Star at the Escape Hunt Experience Tokyo Tanabata Escape Game Event!

Escape Hunt Experience started out in Bangkok as the city's first live escape game before expanding around the world, and at Escape Hunt Experience Tokyo participants from inside and outside of the country are learning about Japan's seasonal activities through a variety of fun events.

July 7 is an important day in Japan, as it's the day of Tanabata, one of the Five Festivals. Meaning "evening of the seventh", Tanabata is also known as the Star Festival as it celebrates the meeting of the lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi. Legend says that these deities are separated by the Milky Way, and they're only allowed to meet once a year on the seventh day of the seventh month. On Tanabata, people write their wishes on strips of paper and hang them on branches of bamboo, and then pray that their wishes will come true! From July 1 until Aug. 7, the "Wish Upon A Star! Tanabata Event" will be taking place at Escape Hunt Experience Tokyo!

During this event, the lounge area of Escape Hunt Experience Tokyo will be home to bamboo branches adorned with colourful Tanabata decorations. There will also be cards explaining the origin and tradition of Tanabata in both English and Japanese, so visitors from all around the world can enjoy learning about Japanese culture. And naturally, there will be strips of paper available so that visitors can write their own wishes too! So after you've had fun solving puzzles with your friends, why not have a go at writing down your own wish while relaxing and enjoying some refreshments?

These days, the number of Japanese families who put up decorated bamboo branches for Tanabata might be dwindling. So make the most of this exciting opportunity to get a fresh look at a traditional Japanese event and send your wishes up into the sky!

What is Escape Hunt Experience?
Escape Hunt Experience is a game that involves searching a room for clues, solving puzzles, and managing to escape from the game within the 60 minute time limit. A British psychologist opened the first Escape Hunt Experience establishment in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2013, and it's since expanded abroad, with branches in other Asian countries, Europe, and North America to name just a few! Escape games have recently become very popular among organisations in Europe and the U.S. as a way to carry out team-building exercises that foster a sense of unity among employees. Participants choose a story and between two to five players enter a single room all at once and then the game begins.

Escape Hunt Experience challenges participants to escape from the room within the time limit. The rooms used in the game are changed at regular intervals, so you can play over and over again! There's a 60 minute time limit, and although you can ask for hints during the game, you'll lose 1 minute each time you ask. The amazing attention to detail at Escape Hunt Experience Tokyo extends to the ornaments inside each room that set the scene of the story - for example, the Samurai Room features antiques like genuine samurai armour. Before the game begins, each group's specialist Game Masters explain the story, transporting participants into another world and ensuring a thrillingly entertaining experience.
