Gintama Live-Action Movie Officially Announced!

Rumors have been floating around and hints have been found on previous issues of the Weekly Shounen Jump in which the popular manga Gintama is serialized, but Gintama fans, speculate no more - your favorite manga/anime has caught the live-action bug!

In the upcoming issues of the Weekly Shounen Jump to be released next Monday, Gintama's protagonist Gintoki, affectionately known as Gin-san, takes the cover screaming "Live-Action Adaptation!!!!" so you know it's definitely happening. The movie will be released in 2017 and stars popular Japanese actor Oguri Shun who is no stranger to live action adaptations of anime and manga. Perhaps still best known for his role as Hanazawa Rui in shoujo manga classic Hana Yori Dango, Oguri has also played Kudo Shinichi in Detective Conan, as well as leading roles in Lupin the Third, Nobunaga Concerto, Arakawa Under the Bridge, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, Space Brothers and more. The movie will be penned and directed by veteran Fukuda Yuichi.
