A special concert in aid of the relief effort for the devastating Kumamoto earthquake which struck on April 14, 2016 will take place at Fukuoka’s Yahuoku! Dome on July 30 and 31. Organised by J-Rock, the MBC Korean Music Wave in Fukuoka event aims to bring a little joy and support from Japan’s closest neighbour in the wake of the tragedy.

Show! Music Core is a massively popular live music TV show in Korea broadcast by MBC which is holding the Korean Music Wave event in Japan for the first time in four years aiming to send a huge cheer of support to disaster-struck Kumamoto from its lineup of top selling K-pop stars.
Some of these artists are already well known in Japan, but this year even the relatively new stars are generating excitement, and this exclusive lineup really is the dream concert for many K-pop fans. The largest event of its kind in Japan, the concert will take place in Fukuoka which links Japan with South Korea, and is being held to offer support following the earthquake in Kumamoto. Check out the MBC Korean Music Wave in Fukuoka official website to see the first wave of artists announced.
Mission Statement:
With relations between Japan and South Korea at a high point in 2016, this special concert will take place Fukuoka, Western Japan’s largest city, which provides a link between Tokyo and Seoul. Aimed at developing not only the city of Fukuoka itself and promoting cultural exchange between the two nations, the concert is promoted by Habitation which is based in the city but operates nursing homes across Japan. From South Korea to Kyushu and throughout Japan itself, music fans young and old will be able to embrace the Japanese and South Korean music scene and experience the beauty of both cultures through this newly organised project.
The concert will also be held as a charity event with the aim of lending support to the region of Kumamoto which was struck with the devastating earthquake on April 14, 2016. It’s not just the people of Fukuoka who will get to enjoy this fantastic event either but music fans right across Kyushu and the whole of Japan too. There will be advertising spots on KBC (Kyushu Asahi Broadcasting) as well as radio commercials, newspaper advertisements, and street promotions, and the event is also expected to be recorded for satellite TV. The first event of its kind to receive such intensive publicity, excitement is running high for the show.
