The key visual and first promotional video have been posted for the TV anime Sekko Boys set to begin in January 2016. We can finally see this strange series in action that follows rough stone statues trying to become idols.
The key visual shows manager and fresh graduate Miki Ishimoto pushing the Sekko Boys on a flat cart down a red carpet. The statues are even dressed up with bow ties around their necks, giving it a comical touch. Sure enough, a curious point about the anime will be whether the Sekko Boys can walk.
The first PV shows how Ishimoto, who’s fresh into the entertainment industry, was chosen as the manager of the Sekko Boys. Will a girl who graduated from an art college and is weak at making plaster drawings be able to carry out her role as manager without any snags?
Descriptions of the main characters were also released at the same time. They’ve attempted to give each of the statues a detailed personality. First up is Saint Giorgio who has a serious personality and a strict sense of justice. He is kind to others, but is a stoic toward himself and can be a bit overbearing as well. Medici is a free spirit with a love of art who fancies himself more of an artist than a performer. Hermes has the spirit of a young child who can become good friends with anyone. He is fair-spoken and also has a stubborn side. Mars is a straight-shooter who’s lively and full of emotion. Look forward to seeing how these vastly idiosyncratic characters interact with each other.
Additional cast members have also been confirmed. Announced this time are Yuki Makino voicing Mira Hanayashiki, Takaya Kuroda voicing Hanzo Horibe, Rena Maeda voicing Kinue Yamashita, and Takahiro Sakurai voicing Hiromichi Yanagisawa. Sekko Boys will premiere on Tokyo MX on Jan. 8 during the Ultra Super Anime Time timeslot.
