A stage greeting was held at Toho Cinemas Nihonbashi on Oct. 6 for the hit movie Yowamushi Pedal the Movie. Though more than a month has passed since its release Japan-wide on Aug. 28, it was a success as usual.
Appearing on stage for the greeting were Daiki Yamashita, voice of main character Sakamichi Onoda, and Tsubasa Yonaga, voice of Sangaku Manami. The event was a happy one for fans. The third season of the TV anime was also announced during the greeting, which was a big present for all fans in attendance.
The stage greeting was in response to Yowamushi Pedal the Movie, currently screening in Japan, becoming a big hit, and Yamashita and Yonaga expressed words of gratitude to the fans. They both shared their burning thoughts on the series and happenings during recording that excited everyone in the venue. After that, a video was screened with a narration by Onoda that showed the uniform of the Sohoku High School Bicycle Club. At the very end, the text “TV Anime Season 3 Confirmed!” jumped up on screen, and fans’ roaring cheers and applause engulfed the venue.
Afterwards, Yonaga commented, “Due to everyone’s support season 3 has been confirmed. Even we’re really looking forward to it. It will be exciting to see if new characters from the original manga will appear. Please burn the currently screening movie into your memory and get ready for the new TV series.”
And Yamashita gave the following message: “I’m so stoked! It’s like a dream! I’m a really big fan of the original manga too so there will be no end to the excitement from here on out, like ‘Will that do that scene?’! I want to try my best to live up to everyone’s support. The cadence will increase all the more from here on, so everyone please keep your eyes on it!”
Details on the third season title, broadcast dates, and staff have yet to be revealed. However, the story is likely to further develop the theme of Yowamushi Pedal the Movie, “the inheritance of spirit.” Continuing from its first original full-length movie, there is much to anticipate from the Yowamushi Pedal anime.
