“Nylon Japan” Front Cover Featuring Namie Amuro in Street Fashion x Hatsune Miku Goes Viral

A collaboration has been carried out between singer Namie Amuro and Vocaloid Hatsune Miku which graces the front cover of the web-exclusive edition of the female fashion magazine Nylon Japan on sale Monday, Sept. 28.

This project that appeared suddenly stems on “B Who I Want 2 B,” a collaboration song between Amuro and Miku which is included on Amuro’s album _genic released in June and will be released as a music video in October.

The front cover, poppy and overflowing with a futuristic sense, has gone viral for featuring animated versions of the real-life singer and virtual songstress descending on Shibuya wearing street fashion.

They’re Not Just on the Cover, They’re Inside Too!

The invincible collaboration of Amuro—who has taken on ambitious projects including the music video “Golden Touch” you can enjoy while touching the screen, the music video “Anything,” the first in the world to utilize Google Chrome’s extended functionality, and others—and Miku—who is unrivalled among virtual idols—graces the cover.

There are also fashion shots of both published on the inner pages. The illustrations, which jump over the respective boundaries between reality and virtual reality for an artistic finished product the likes of which have never been seen, are worth at least a look even if you’re not a fan.

The web-exclusive version of the magazine sold online is limited in quantity and is currently available for pre-order from Amazon Japan, Rakuten Books, and L Paca Books.

The normal edition of the magazine features on its cover Nana Komatsu, winner of the Japan Academy Prize for Newcomer of the Year for the movie The World of Kanako.

A Fusion of Real Life and Virtual Reality!

“B Who I Want 2 B feat. Hatsune Miku” is a song off of Amuro’s 11th album, _genic, which was released in June. A video with lyrics was released in June and an official music video will be released in October.

At first the artist featured was listed as “U Hum Sneak it,” but it was later confirmed that Hatsune Miku had been switched in. At the same time, a visual drawn just for the occasion was posted by Shigenori Soejima, known as the character designer on such series as Persona 3.

The song was produced by Sophie, an energetic British artist who jointly produced new music for Madonna, and popular Vocalo-P Mitchie M created the lyrics for the song and produced Miku’s singing voice.
