Since 1997’s Pokémon, the Pokémon anime series has become massively popular with both kids and adults. On Sept. 15, it was announced that a new anime, titled Pokémon XY & Z, will begin broadcasting on Oct. 29. A character song project has also been born, and details on it have been revealed. The executive producer of this project is popular artist Tomohisa Sako.
The TV anime Pokémon XY & Z to begin broadcasting on Oct. 29 is a sequel to the previous anime in the series, Pokémon XY. The first broadcast will be an hour-long back-to-back special, and a new visual for this has been posted to the official site.
As previously stated, the anime will launch a character song project which is being produced by Tomohisa Sako. Sako gained attention for singing and dancing the opening theme to Pokémon XY, “Getta Banban,” and had his big break from Truetones® distributed through five sites that reached No. 1 on the Daily Ranking. After his big break, Sako’s love toward Pokémon was recognized, and it was decided that he would participate in this character song project. Look forward to what he has in store.
Sako arranged and composed the lyrics for the opening theme to Pokémon XY & Z, “XY & Z.” And Ash sings the song through voice actress Rica Matsumoto supplying his voice. Matsumoto has voiced Ash ever since the very first broadcast back in 1997. Beginning with the well-known “Mezase Pokémon,” she has on countless occasions sung theme songs to the series. Fan anticipation will no doubt rise over what the new song will be like.
It also seems that this character song project will continue to be developed from here out as well. Keep your eyes peeled for what kind of music Sako, who grew up watching Pokémon, will create.
