TouhouCon 2015 Announces Renowned AAA Video Game Music Composer and Producer Rika Muranaka as Guest of Honor!

Villa Park, CA – Aug. 21, 2015 – TouhouCon is pleased to announce today music composer and producer Rika Muranaka as Guest of Honor at its September convention. TouhouCon, “Where Creativity Comes to Play,” is scheduled for Sept. 18–20, 2015, at the Hilton Anaheim. She will participate in a special meet-n-greet, question and answer panel sessions, and autograph session. In addition, she along with Grammy award-winning producer Damien “E-Love” Matthias will be the official judges to a Karaoke Contest held at this year’s event.

Based in Tokyo, Japan and Los Angeles, California, Rika has composed and produced themes to some of Konami’s most successful and award-winning AAA game titles including the Metal Gear Solid series (MGS), Silent Hill, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. She was instrumental in collaborating and hiring Hollywood film composer Harry Gregson-Williams to work with her on the MGS series. She has played a fundamental role in shaping the tone of dramatic on screen events, which elevated the cinematic experience for gamers worldwide. To this day, Rika has sold over 44 million copies of video games, combined with CD sales throughout the world. Her last project with Konami, and the final entry in the MGS series, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, was released Sept. 1, 2015, and the soundtrack was released Sept. 2, 2015.

E-Love is best known for co-producing and performing with LL Cool J, one of Def Jams Records’ first artists. He was also instrumental in launching the careers of Tupac Shakur and John Forte of the Fugees. He was an integral part of fledgling Def Jam Records’ hugely successful pre-internet marketing team using creative “Street Teams” trained to inundate the airways and college campuses, distribute fliers, post signs on bus stops and walls, set up high school and college tours, radio talk shows, coordinate media – cutting-edge guerilla marketing for that time. In addition, E-Love made sure the artists showed up to radio and record store appearances.
