Kodoku no Gourmet Season 5, a drama starring Yutaka Matsushige, was cleared for broadcast! The series will air from Oct. 3 (Sat.) 12:12 a.m. on TV Tokyo in the drama block Drama 24.
As the live-action series of the manga Kodoku no Gourmet always broadcasts during the night, it was labeled “midnight snack terrorism” in Japanese for the way it arouses the appetite of its viewers with the hearty eating of main character Goro Inogashira. Ever since the broadcast of the first season, the show attracted more and more viewers with each coming season, soon arriving to the announcement regarding the production of a fifth.
Until season four, the series aired Wednesday nights, but from season five, it will be broadcast as the series celebrating the 10th anniversary of Drama 24, a late Friday night television block known for giving birth to unique shows such as Joo, All Esper Dayo!, and Moteki.
Similarly to previous seasons, Goro Inogashira continues to enjoy the highly fulfilling experience of eating. It was announced that although the series will focus on cities, Inogashira will also make business trips to different regions in Japan, and even going as far as leaving the boundaries of Japan. How far will Inogashira’s curiosity of cuisine take him? “Since I don’t know how long my organs will last, what I can do this year I’ll do this year,” lead actor Yutaka Matsushige commented.
Moreover, the highly awaited sequel of the manga, Kodoku no Gourmet 2, was announced to release on Sept. 29 after 18 years! Original creator Masayuki Kusumi says, “I intend to focus my energies on returning to the roots and do my best in coming up with interesting lines and music, so please look forward to it.”
