The manga Flying Witch currently serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine (Kodansha) is getting a TV anime. The broadcast schedule is to be determined, but it will broadcast on Nippon TV, Aomori Broadcasting, and other networks in Japan. Another pleasant announcement is that fans will be able to see it in Aomori Prefecture, the series’ setting.
Flying Witch is based on the original manga by Chihiro Ishizuka currently serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. Volumes 1–3 of the tankobon volumes have been published, and volume 4 is set to be released on April 8, 2016.
The series is set in Aomori, a prefecture surrounded by abundant nature. Fifteen-year-old Makoto Kowata moves to Aomori with her black cat Chito to study to become a witch at a relative’s house. At this point, Makoto can’t even fly, and she spends her days with her cousins Kei and Chinatsu.
A visual was also posted to go along with the announcement of the anime. It shows main character Makoto riding on a broom with her cat Chito. In the background, Mount Iwaki aka Tsugaru-Fuji, a famous landmark of Aomori, can be seen. A story depicting everyday life as Makoto strives to become a witch is a given, but we can also look forward to plenty of shots of Aomori’s scenery.
The anime’s official home page and Twitter account have also opened. Both will be updated periodically with the latest news. Keep it here for too for more news including the on-air schedule, and all you want to know about the cast and staff.
The first chapter of the original manga is available to trial read on the Flying Witch introduction page on Shonen Magazine’s official site, Maga Mega. By checking out the series’ world ahead of time, you might be able to enjoy the anime even more.
