Laughing Under the Clouds is a popular manga that was adapted into an anime in 2014. Now a key art exhibit for the series is on the way. It will be held in Exhibit Hall A on the fourth floor of Ikebukuro Sunshine City World Import Mart from Aug. 26–31.
Titled “Laughing Under the Clouds Key Art Exhibit,” it will be original author Kemuri Karakara’s first large scale art exhibit. One of the jewels of the exhibit will be displayed right at the entryway: a luxurious, dazzling, humongous folding screen. Though it will be themed on the series, what the actual illustration looks like has yet to be revealed. This will be something to look forward to after the event kicks off.
The exhibit area will have a lineup of over 100 key artworks from the manga published in Monthly Comic Avarus (Mag Garden). This seems like an overwhelming amount of artwork. Also on display will be illustrations drawn just for the exhibit, and display items from the sequel Laughing Under the Clouds Side Story and Laughing in Limbo, which is set during the Sengoku period. There will also be an area that introduces the anime series broadcast from October to December 2014 and the stage play performed in February of this year, and will have material from each on display. The exhibit will draw out the charms of this series that has gained attention for its media developments.
On top of that, there will be original merchandise that features exclusive artwork for sale at the exhibit. These are likely to be a popular part of the exhibit as well. Advance tickets are on sale now at Animate, Gamers, and Ticket Pia. The official site also has details on a special campaign for winning prizes. Advance tickets cost 1,000 yen, same-day tickets costs 1,300 yen, advance tickets with exclusive goods cost 3,000 yen, and same-day tickets with exclusive goods cost 3,300 yen.
