A collaboration with Animax Cafe: Non Non Biyori concept cafe opens in Akihabara.
A themed cafe that offers menu items related to the world of the popular anime Non Non Biyori has opened in Akihabara, Tokyo. The cafe is a collaboration between Non Non Biyori and Animax Cafe Akihabara, a concept cafe created by anime channel Animax.
Non Non Biyori is a popular comedy manga serialized in Monthly Comic Alive. It was adapted into a TV anime in the fall of 2013, which gained popularity. A new TV anime titled Non Non Biyori Repeat will begin broadcasting this summer. The cafe comes just in time for this. It is open now until Aug. 17, and those who purchase from the collaboration menu will get a limited item as a present.
Animax Cafe has gained a following for its many previous collaborations with different series. This collaboration with Non Non Biyori is the cafe’s seventh collaboration overall and exudes the charms of Non Non Biyori Repeat. The Akihabara cafe features, of course, special displays related to the series, as well as has collaboration food and drinks on offer.
Each item on the menu is named after the title of an episode from season 1. These include dishes themed after those that appear in the series, such as a sakura mochi titled “A New Transfer Student Came” after episode 1, and a chocolate Hamburg steak bowl titled “Spring Came Again” after episode 12. The menu’s offerings have a distinct Non Non Biyori feel, and finding out what kind of flavors they hold is all part of the fun.
Those who order off the collaboration menu will receive a not-for-sale limited edition original coaster. The coasters will come in two differing lineups. Furthermore, original cards that are changed each will also be distributed. Details on this schedule can be found on the official site.
Pin badge gatchas and a tote bag that can’t be purchased anywhere else will also be available in the Animax Cafe. The tote bag is a particularly rare item limited in quantity that will likely gain popularity. Animate Cafe Akihabara is open from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. weekdays, and from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
