“Ushio and Tora” Anime to Start Broadcast from July 3; Kinniku Shoujo Tai to Perform Theme Song

The broadcast date for the anime version of Ushio and Tora, which has gathered much attention, has been confirmed. The first showing will be on July 3 (Friday) from 10 p.m. on Tokyo MX, and thereafter it will be broadcast on Sun Television, KBS Kyoto, Television Aichi and BS Fuji.

In addition, details about the theme song have also been released. The well-known rock band Kinniku Shoujo Tai will be handling the theme song. The song is entitled “Mazeru na Kiken” and reminds us of the relationship between the protagonist Ushio Aotsuki and Tora.

Ushio and Tora is a manga series by Kazuhiro Fujita that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday (Shogakukan). The series was a big hit, with 33 volumes published and over 30 million copies sold. The original anime series in the 1990s received high praise, and this new series is the first adaptation since then. Even now it still retains huge popularity.

The creator of the manga, Kazuhiro Fujita, is said to be a fan of Kinniku Shoujo Tai. When writing the series, they were a band he liked and listened to.

Singer Kenji Ohtsuki said of the band’s appointment to the role: “I had heard previously that Mr. Fujita listened to Kinniku Shoujo Tai, so when the call finally came I was honored. I hope everyone is ready for our collaboration with Ushio and Tora, entitled ‘Mazeru na Kiken.’”

“Mazeru na Kiken” is scheduled to go on sale on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Some more good news for fans: the single will feature an exclusive illustration by Kazuhiro Fujita himself!
