Products have been released successively for the TV anime Rage of Bahamut Genesis, a huge hit among anime fans that was broadcast from October to December 2014. The settings collection Rage of Bahamut Genesis Artworks was released on April 28, and the CD Rage of Bahamut Genesis Original Soundtrack was released on the 29. As might be expected from this series that has caught on for its high quality, there is likely no doubt that each of these products will be key to understanding this series on a deeper level. They are a chance to look back once more at this smash hit of 2014.
Rage of Bahamut Genesis is based on Rage of Bahamut, the flagship social game from Cygames, a company that designs, develops, and operates online games. The studio that created the anime adaptation of this long-running game along with a grand story from its world is Mappa. Mappa has a group of staff of leaders of the anime world, and they create awe-inspiring visuals. The anime is directed by Keiichi Sato from Tiger & Bunny and Asura, the series composer is Keiichi Hasegawa from the Ultraman series, and the character designer and chief animation director is Naoyuki Onda.
Given its staff, fans were curious what kind of work it would be made into. Rage of Bahamut Genesis Artworks is intended for such fans. The 189-page book contains a bulk of design works including characters, fine art, and more. Also included are rough original illustrations, image boards, an illustration gallery, a selection of storyboards, and staff interviews. The book costs 3,241 yen (plus tax).
On the other hand, the Rage of Bahamut Genesis Original Soundtrack contains a selection of music from the series by Yoshihiro Ike, who has worked in movies, TV dramas, and on Tiger & Bunny. The soundtrack includes over 80 orchestral pieces on two CDs. Two versions, a regular edition and a special edition, are on sale as limited first editions. The special edition comes with a Blu-ray disc that fans won’t want to miss.
