Ichigo Takano’s adolescent sci-fi love story, Orange (serialized in Futabasha’s Monthly Action), is getting a live action adaptation. Toho will release the film Japan-wide this December. Furthermore, the director and information on the cast will be announced in the coming days.
Orange is an adolescent sci-fi love story about six second-year high school classmates that unfolds in the city of Matsumoto in Nagano Prefecture. Currently, volumes 1-4 have been published, and the series has over 1.5 million copies in print. The series has support from females as well as many males too, and has ranked on several charts including 5th on “Recommended Comics Chosen by Bookstore Clerks Japan-wide 2015,” 12th on “The Next Manga Award 2015,” and 15th on “This Manga is Amazing! 2015 - Men’s Ver.”
On a special site for Orange, a special movie is currently available that uses to the full extent the beauty of the original manga’s illustrations. Also, an Orange starter book with a message from Ichigo Takano is available now for free in the Amazon Kindle Store for a limited time until the movie’s release.
