[Video] Preview Released for New ‘Initial D’ Movie; Theme Song is ‘Resurrection’ by Back-On

New Initial D the Movie Legend 2: Racer will be released in theaters in Japan on May 23. The movie is the second of four new anime for the popular manga Initial D. With roughly a month left until the release, a preview has now been made public. Also, along with the preview, it has been confirmed that Back-On will be singing the theme song, “Resurrection.” Comments from the members have also been released.

The New Initial D the Movie Legend 2: Racer preview shows a deathmatch race battle between number 1 Myogi Night Kids member Takeshi Nakazato driving a GT-R and number 2 member Shingo Shoji driving an EG6. Expect white-knuckle race battles to unfold in the new movie.

Also, the theme song is being sung by four-person rock band Back-On. Back-On has been successful in creating songs for a number of series, beginning with Gundam Build Fighters. The band is well known by anime fans. “Resurrection” will bring excitement to the movie.

Teeda of Back-On had this joyous comment to share: “It’s such a great honor to have the privilege of being in charge of the theme song!” Teeda also talked about the Initial D series, saying, “The other members of the band enjoy reading it, and since I too am from a generation of car and bike racers, it was awfully fun constructing the song.” The song’s title, “Resurrection,” also conjures up the image of “a hero’s comeback,” and the sound expresses clearly a sense of speed, the painfulness that comes with impatience, and a sense of battle.

Lastly, Teeda had the following message to fans: “I think we’ve created a song that will bring even more excitement to the story, so definitely please listen to and enjoy ‘Resurrection’ along with the movie!”
