Koei Tecmo Games’ standout hit, Samurai Warriors, is getting a stage play adaptation. Performances of the Sekigahara chapter of Samurai Warriors will be held at Theatre 1010 in Tokyo from May 2-7. At this time, visuals of three characters from the stage play have been released: main characters Yukimura Sanada and Nobuyuki Sanada, and Mitsunari Ishida, who meets a tragic end.
Playing Yukimura Sanada is Shintaro Anzai. Anzai previously played Kuranosuke Shiraishi in the Prince of Tennis musical, after which his career has steadily risen, with performances in Psychic Detective Yakumo and Don Dracula. This time, he’s performing as a hero of the Sengoku era, Yukimura Sanada.
Along with him, Yukimura’s brother Nobuyuki Sanada also has a pivotal role in the story. Performing as Nobuyuki is Shota Onuma. Still fresh in mind is Onuma’s fine performance as Keigo Atobe in the 2014 Prince of Tennis musical. How he will play Nobuyuki, who is calm and cares for his brother, is an everlasting point of interest for fans.
Also, playing Mitsunari Ishida is Keisuke Ueda. To date, Ueda as well has performed as pivotal characters in popular series including stage plays for K and Yowamushi Pedal. This time, he is challenging himself with this tragic general.
