Adapted from Haruichi Furudate’s popular volleyball manga, the anime Haikyu!! is coming to the big screen. The movie will be a recap of the complete 25-episode first season edited especially for the anime feature plus brand new footage, and divided into two movies.
The titles for both movies were announced on March 23, 2015. The first movie, Gekijouban Haikyu!! Owari to Hajimari (Haikyu!! the Movie: Ending and Beginning), will be released on July 3, 2015 (Fri.), while the second movie, Gekijouban Haikyu!! Shousha to Haisha (Haikyu!! the Movie: Winners and Losers), will be released on Sept. 18, 2015 (Fri.). Both titles are very befitting of the hot-blooded sports action that play out in the series.
The second season of the anime has also already been announced to air in fall 2015. The second season will yet again bring us into the high-paced and heart-racing world of high school volleyball, featuring Hinata, Kageyama, and the rest of the Karasuno High School Volleyball Team. A new character, Hitoka Yachi, a first year at Karasuno High School, will also make her appearance. With the movies being released in July and subsequently September, the new TV series will succeed in relay.
Furthermore, starting on Aug. 30, 2015, a grand event for Haikyu!! will be held at the Pacifico Yokohama Convention Center, called “Haikyu!! Matsuri!” A live stage play will also be opening in November and December. From summer to fall, and finally winter, the whirlwind of Haikyu!! events won’t be winding down anytime soon!
