Previously only known by its title, which was announced in fall 2014, new information has been revealed for the TV anime High School Star Musical. First, the anime has been confirmed for a fall 2015 broadcast. It will also be a completely original teen musical anime. The anime’s highlights will be its songs, animation, and unique characters.
High School Star Musical is set at Ayana Academy, a school that focuses on the music and entertainment industries. This is the story of Yuta Hoshiya and four other high school students all aiming to get into the school’s musical department. The academy’s top third-year students in the musical department comprise the student council organization Kao Kai, which is at the top of the school’s hierarchy. The best shortcut to getting chosen for the musical department and fast-tracked to be a star given direct guidance is to catch the eyes of the Kao Kai. It will be interesting to see how the story develops.
The anime’s cast is comprised of a lineup of popular male voice actors including Natsuki Hanae as Yuta Hoshiya, Kensho Ono as Toru Nayuki, Arthur Lounsbery as Kaito, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Sho Tengeji, Tomoaki Maeno as Shu Koga, Junichi Suwabe as Takashi Otori, and Daisuke Hirakawa as Tsubasa Hiiragi. Planning and original concept are being handled by Rin Hinata, Shunsuke Tada is directing, Sayaka Harada is handling series composition, Asami Watanabe is designing the characters, and C-Station is producing the animation.
Along with the new information, an official free fanclub has started. Being a member leads to tons of perks including a numbered membership certificate and fanclub reports. Membership will be open until April 30.
In other news, a PV of the anime will be unveiled at the NBC Universal booth at AnimeJapan 2015 to be held on March 21 and 22. A booklet will also be given out that includes character introductions and interviews with the staff. There is still much that is a mystery about this anime.
