Anime Songs Meet Jazz! Videos of Big Band Lowland Jazz Playing Music from ‘Pokémon,’ ‘Doremi’ and More Now Available

The big band Lowland Jazz is set to release their album Bigband for Anime Songs on March 4. Lowland Jazz submits videos on YouTube and Nico Nico Douga of covers of Vocaloid songs. They are a popular band whose every video has a high number of views. Their popularity online is what has spurred the release of their album.

Bigband for Anime Songs features fan-favorite anime songs from between 1980 and 2010 with a big band sound. Included are a great many familiar anime songs including “Kinnikuman Go Fight!” from Kinnikuman, “Aim to Be a Pokémon Master” from Pokémon, and “Connect” from Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Lowland Jazz gives enjoyable performances surging with young spirit of such well-known anime songs.

The music, arranged using several different approaches, has a different appeal than original music, making this likely to be an album that catches the attention of anime song fans, of course, as well as jazz fans. Also, those who purchase the album in a retail store will receive, while supplies last, a B2 size poster.

Coming ahead of the album’s release, videos for the aforementioned “Aim to Be a Pokémon Master” and “Ojamajo Carnival!!” from Ojamajo Doremi have been released. A crossfade of the entire album is also available. Those who want to grasp the mood of the album should have at least a listen.

Lowland Jazz is a highly talented big band comprised mainly of members of the Kunitachi College of Music’s New Tide Jazz Orchestra, which won the 43rd Yamano Big Band Jazz Contest, a springboard to success for students of big band jazz sponsored by Yamano Music. Since their formation in April 2013, they have received wide support from middle and high school students, as well as the general public. When they performed at Niconico Cho Party III in April 2014, they received resounding cheers from the roughly 5,000 in attendance.

Lowland Jazz will also play a concert at the Yomiuri Otemachi Hall on March 4, the release date of their album. Those who become interesting in Lowland Jazz through these videos should try attending.
