The countdown ended at the end of January on a teaser site displaying the text “The restoration of the world...will begin” and a countdown clock, and a new visual was revealed along with the title Glass no Hana to Kowasu Sekai (Vitreous Flower Destroy the World).
A 2015 release has been confirmed for the original film Glass no Hana to Kowasu Sekai. The film, a tag-team project between Pony Canyon and A-1 Pictures, is being directed by Masashi Ishihama and written Fumihiko Shimo with animation character designs by Kantoku. The original work is D.backup by Physics Point.
D.backup is the Grand Prize winner of 2013’s Animeka Taisho powered by Pony Canyon. In line with the contest’s concept of selecting works worthy of being animated, the animated film for this winning work is already on the way.
The talented director Masashi Ishihama has created countless animation key frames, opening sequences for Attack on Titan and Psycho-Pass 2, and he directed From the New World. Scriptwriter Fumihiko Shimo has been in charge of series composition and scripts for Air, Clannad, Amagi Brilliant Park, and other anime. Character designer Kantoku drew the illustrations for the series The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat. In charge of production is A-1 Pictures, which also produced The Idolmaster Movie: Beyond the Brilliant Future! and Sword Art Online.
When the work won the Animeka Taisho Grand Prize, Good Smile Company CEO Takanori Aki, Production I.G CEO Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, and A-1 Pictures CEO Masuo Ueda were participating as judges. On the official site of the Animeka Taisho is the following explanation of the film’s world: “The characters, ‘Software,’ fight against swarming insects inside the box of knowledge.” Just what will this anime coming two years after winning the Grand Prize look like? Look forward to further developments.
