The anime adaptation of Tokyo Ghoul √A started airing on television from January 2015. This is the second season of Tokyo Ghoul which aired from July to September 2014, and gained great reviews.
The manga finished Part 1 of its serialization in Weekly Young Jump last fall, with Part 2 starting its run in October 2014. The second anime series, Tokyo Ghoul √A , follows Part 2 of the manga series. This time, manga creator Sui Ishida himself has taken a role in creating the anime series. The new season is expected to differ from the original manga storyline.
The music that fittingly expresses this second season is the ending theme song “Kisetsu wa Tsugitsugi Shindeiku (Seasons Die One After Another)” by amazarashi. Amazarashi was formed in 2007, and is led by Hiromu Akita. The band has won an award at the Japan Media Arts Festival for their song, “Natsu o Matteimashita (Been Waiting for the Summer),” which used 3D CG animation in the music video. The music video for the anime’s second season aired on Feb. 3.

At the beginning of the new music video, Shuntaro Tanikawa’s poem appears on the screen. The video then starts with a novel and original opening. For the first time in the world, a laser cutter is used on raw meat to cut out character-shaped meat pieces.
The video is produced by Creative Director Keiichi Motoyama of SIX, and Movie Director Ukyo Inaba. Scenes of actress Kanami Matsunaga eating 200 character-shaped pieces of raw meat are continuously shown throughout the entire video. The image of a person gorging on red meat in a dazed state bears striking resemblance to Tokyo Ghoul.
All CD cover illustrations of the first press limited edition, limited edition, and regular edition are drawn by manga artist Sui Ishida, and will be available for sale starting Feb. 18 (Wed.).
