Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai gained popularity with its 2011 TV series and became a huge hit with the release of a theatrical movie on Aug. 31, 2013. It is a masterpiece that tugs at the heartstrings of viewers and has left its mark on the history of anime.
Now the production staff behind the anime are getting back together to work on a new adolescent drama: the movie Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterun Da (The Heart Wants to Shout) to release sometime this year. Fans’ anticipation will likely explode after hearing that the staff is comprised of one big-name creator after another, including Tatsuyuki Nagai as director, Mari Okada as writer, and Masayoshi Tanaka as character designer. In charge of production is A-1 Pictures, and already the series is being showered in attention.
A teaser and key visual for Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterun Da have also already been released. The teaser is 15 seconds long and was first aired as a commercial during the Jan. 22 late-night broadcast of Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block. The teaser shows a girl standing by a window in a classroom. She is holding a cell phone in her hand and lush scenery can be seen outside the window. The red and yellow of the trees convey a sense of the season. On the other hand, there is a castle floating in the sky and what looks like people dancing, and there’s a mysterious egg-like object on top of the desk. Moreover, Beethoven’s “Sonata Pathétique” can be heard as the background music.
Each of these aspects seems to be an important part of the anime, but information on the story and world are still unknown. We’ll have to wait for more information to come.
Both the key visual and commercial make use of the same image, and the commercial makes it possible to gaze closely at the image. From the information given, maybe fans can even enjoy solving the series’ mysteries.
On the other hand, the title Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterun Da also gives several clues. For example, because the title was announced on Dec. 3, 2014 at the Chichibu Night Festival, the anime seems to be somehow connected to Chichibu. Also, because it’s being called Part 2 of an adolescent drama, there is a high likelihood that it will depict adolescent boys and girls. There is also the fact that it’s a completely original anime not based on an existing original work. The movie will be released sometime this year, so it seems more from this interesting anime will be shown before long.
