The second promotion video of Kaiji no Yu, a bathing salt themed on escort vessels of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force was released on Jan. 19. The PV features a male character based on the escort ship Murasame who is depicted as young boy with violet hair.
Toshiyuki Tomonaga, the person who voices Murasame, is known from his roles as Mikado Ryugamine from Durarara!!x2 Sho and Flit Asuno from Mobile Suit Gundam Age. In the first episode, Yuki Kaji––the same person who voiced Eren from Attack on Titan and Meliodas from The Seven Deadly Sins––played escort vessel Hyuga. It is likely to attract a great deal of attention with the voice actors starring in the following episodes.
Kaiji no Yu is an interesting project with a collaboration between Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force escort ships and ikemen characters. It was developed with an aim to create MSDF-related goods with a new sensation that hasn’t been seen before. Besides taking a turn on MSDF’s image, it also provides an efficient, beneficial medicinal bathing salt to a wider range of customers.
The products feature four male characters, all of whom are handsome boys similar to those in women’s manga. The characteristics are also well-balanced: you can find the cheerful type, an intelligent-looking figure with glasses, the sports-oriented big brother type, and even a young boy.
In addition, Arpeggio of Blue Steel -Ars Nova-, the movie of which is scheduled to release to theater on Jan. 31, will also collaborate with Kaiji no Yu. It has already been decided that “Arpeggio of Blue Steel -Ars Nova- no Yu” will be available from Jan. 28. The details will be posted on the official site in the coming days, so be on the watch for new developments.
There is also a campaign in which those who apply through the barcode on the products will be presented with a sign card with Yuki Kaji’s autograph or a special chibi card. The deadline is the end of February. In the second part of the campaign, applicants can get Toshiyuki Tomonaga’s autograph on a sign card or a special chibi card. The deadline is March 19. For details, you can check Kaiji no Yu’s official site.
