Beginning with Hatsune Miku from Vocaloid, there are various virtual idols in the spotlight. One among them is Kamui Kitano, an idol for the growth of Hokkaido, who takes part by bringing excitement to the region. Kamui’s debut CD single has been announced. The CD single, titled Se no! de Ohayoteizan/Come Here!, will release on Jan. 28.
Kamui Kitano is a local virtual idol of Hokkaido developed through a collaboration with Hokkaido’s businesses, and the concept behind her is that she is “dispatched around the country from Hokkaido.” Illustrations of her were created by illustrator KEI who is well known for being the character designer of Hatsune Miku. Her CD single was announced on the HBC radio show Kitano Kamui no Monyo Monyo Radio (Tekito) where she is a radio personality. Her debut singles “Se no! de Ohayoteizan” and “Come Here!” are currently used as the radio show’s theme songs. Both the opening and ending theme songs, “Se no! de Ohayoteizan” and “Come Here!”, were written and composed by listeners who reside in Hokkaido. Every part of the radio show is also done in Hokkaido; the actress, a Sapporo resident, who lends her voice to Kamui Kitano records the radio show in a studio in Hokkaido, for example.
Both songs are filled with lyrics of Hokkaido’s charms and catchy pop melodies, and both overflow with love for Hokkaido. A cute illustration of Kamui Kitano graces the CD jacket. It seems safe to say that her CD debut will propel her future activities.
On her official Twitter, Kamui is aiming to get on the top 100 of the Oricon ranking, so we can look forward to finding out if she can pull it off. Including instrumentals, the single will have four songs total and cost 1,000 yen (tax excluded).
Kamui Kitano arrived on the scene in 2013. April 2014 marked the start of the broadcast of her radio program, and she is active in a vast variety of ways, with the purpose of providing a forum for Hokkaido’s creators to express themselves.
