“Attack on Titan Exhibit” Advances on West Japan - Touring Exhibit Coming to Oita and Osaka

The “Attack on Titan Exhibit” on now at the Mori Art Museum in Ueno since Nov. 28 is picking up huge popularity. In just 20 days since the start of the exhibit, attendance has already crossed over 100,000. The exhibit will end in Ueno on Jan. 25, 2015, but it has been revealed that it will continue even after that. It has been confirmed that the touring exhibit will come to both Oita in the summer and Osaka in the fall of 2015.

Attack on Titan is a popular manga by Hajime Isayama that has been serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine since 2009. With the release of Volume 15 of the manga earlier this month, the series has exceeded 42 million copies in print. The exhibit is based on the series and introduces its world through several different approaches. Due to the intensity of the exhibit and its entertainment value, it has been covered by various media. Tickets sold out three days after opening day, with attendance climbing at miraculous speed to surpass 100,000 visitors by Dec. 17. It seems the number of visitors to the exhibit will continue to grow from here on as well.

The titles of the exhibits in Oita and Osaka will be respectively titled “Wall Oita” and “Wall Osaka.” With these two stops, the “Attack on Titan Exhibit” will be advancing on West Japan.

Oita, the first stop for the exhibit, is author Hajime Isayama’s hometown. Oita was also decided as a location for the exhibit because items on display include Hajime Isayama’s artwork and sculptures from his time living in Oita. The exhibit will also be his triumphant return to his hometown. This is likely good news for fans in the area.

In other news, a portion of the exhibit in Ueno, which will be entering its final phase on Jan. 1, will include new content, so it seems more excitement is to come for the “Attack on Titan Exhibit.” Keep your eyes peeled for more information on these stops.
