On July 2, Shoko Nakagawa held a concert at the 15th Japan Expo being held at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center in France. The concert was showered in attention from local media. Shokotan was invited to the 15th Japan Expo as a special guest. After arriving in France on June 30, she was flooded with requests from Europe’s largest TV and radio media groups, which showed her high popularity as an icon of Japanese culture.
Over 3,000 European fans attended her special concert on July 2, and as soon as she stepped foot on stage, the crowd went wild. “Bonjour! I’m Shokotan!” she said, greeting the crowd in French. On the concert being her first in France, she said, “Singing in France has always, always for many, many years been a dream of mine! And today, it has come true!”
Shokotan performed a 12-song set that included a medley of anime songs such as “Sorairo Days” and “9lives.” Though it was her first concert in France, the fans in attendance cheered her on from beginning to end; the venue was shaking the entire time.
She ended her performance by saying, “I love France! I will give it my all until the day comes when I can return to France again.” Even after the concert ended, fans were still pumped up. The concert was proof of Shokotan’s immense popularity and support from many fans regardless of being abroad.
