This year, the TV anime One Piece, which began in October 1999, reaches its 15th year. Since the broadcast, the series has had tremendous support from fans, and the movie One Piece Film Z, which released in 2012, was a huge hit, making 6.8 billion yen in box office revenue.

In celebration of this memorial year, a concert of all the successive theme songs to the anime will be held. Titled “Animation 15th Anniversary One Piece Super Live ‘Utage’ in A-Nation,” the concert will be held at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium on Aug. 17.

Performing artists for “‘Utage’ in A-Nation” will be all those in charge of past theme songs for the anime. The lineup is fitting of the series’ 15th anniversary and includes Hiroshi Kitadani who did the first opening themes “We Are!” and “We Go!”, and Maki Otsuki who did the first ending themes “Memories” and “Run! Run! Run!”, as well as D-51 (“Brand New World”) and Triplane (“Dear Friends,” “Eternal Waves”). Also, there won’t just be music to enjoy at the event. A compilation video of the best scenes from the series will be screened as well. It seems it will be a festivity to look back on the series while singing and dancing.

Even more participating artists will be announced to come, so look for a follow-up report. Tickets for special advance seating will be available until June 8. Ticket pricing is 5,500 yen for reserved seating and 3,500 yen for general admission. (Both prices include tax.)

One Piece began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) in 1997. The TV anime has over 600 episodes and has grown into a long-running hit. On June 4, the 74th volume of the manga went on sale.
