Blu-ray box sets have been announced of the anime Shakugan no Shana which has had wide development into other areas including movies and OVA. Releasing simultaneously on Aug. 27 is the OVA Shakugan no Shana S which released in October 2009 and Shakugan no Shana III: Final, the conclusion to the TV anime that broadcast between 2011 and 2012.
The original work to Shakugan no Shana is a light novel of the same name by author Yashichiro Takahashi and illustrator Noizi Ito. It began being published by Dengeki Bunko (ASCII Media Works) in 2002. The TV anime began broadcasting in 2005 and it had a long run as a huge hit anime from the first half of the 2000s through the first part of the 2010s. The original light novels ended after a long run in 2011 and the TV anime also reached its finale. However, even to this day the series is still popular and has a deep-rooted fan base. The main cast includes Rie Kugimiya who played the heroine in Gintama as main character Shana and Satoshi Hino of Bakuman fame as Yuji Sakai. This famous went on to perform in The Familiar of Zero series.
The Blu-ray boxes for each work both include as bonus video content the short anime “Shakugan no Shana-tan.” Audio commentary can also be enjoyed as bonus audio content. In addition to this, they will also come with a booklet and a special three-sided package. The prices are 8,000 yen for Shakugan no Shana S and 24,000 yen for Shakugan no Shana III: Final (Both prices exclude tax.). DVD sets will also be released at the same time. The prices for these are 4,500 yen for Shakugan no Shana S and 6,800 yen for Shakugan no Shana III: Final (Both prices exclude tax.).
