An exhibition of reproduced illustrations by artist Takashi Takeuchi 1 from Kinoko Nasu’s mystery novel The Garden of Sinners will be held from March 20 at Pixiv Zingaro in Nakano, Tokyo.
The Garden of Sinners is a series that started serializing as a web novel in 1998 on the website supervised by Takashi Takeuchi called Takebouki. In 2001, it was published as a doujin novel under the title Kara no Kyōkai (known outside Japan as The Garden of Sinners), and it became very popular. The minute it was adapted into a commercial publication in 2004, it scored as a best seller on all kinds of rankings at once. In 2007, animation studio Ufotable set out on a movie adaptation unprecedented in the history of animation, a seven part series spanning all seven chapters, and it became an unexpected big hit for only releasing on a small scale. It is both in name and substance a monumental work that represents the 00 generation.
This exhibition will feature 19 pieces of artwork from the series, which Takeuchi has illustrated for 15 years. In addition, orders will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis for limited edition replicas of the displayed illustrations made with Japan’s most advanced printing technology, “primagraphie,” hand-signed by Takeuchi. Also to be sold are limited edition event goods, such as tapestries, postcards, and pamphlets.
For those of you who want to get your hands on one of these super-rare prints signed by the artist himself, don’t worry! For the duration of the exhibit, there will be a special selling of these The Garden of Sinners prints here on TOM! The TOM Premium Shop is the only place selling these uber-rare pieces of art outside Japan. We will be offering eight framed, numbered, and signed primagraphie prints as well as six unframed primagraphie canvas panels. Keep your eyes glued to the TOM Facebook Page and the TOM Premium Shop for more information on how to order your print!
