Beginning on Feb. 11, a special limited time space featuring Sanrio Puroland opened in the Meetscal Store by Once a Month on the first floor of Shibuya Parco Part 1. The space will be open until March 9. The space is a collaboration project between Hello Kitty, who is turning 40 this year, and Shibuya Parco, which turned 40 last year. The space features many Hello Kitty goods for sale, with the ones taking the spotlight being collaboration goods between Hello Kitty, Fabrick ®, and Stereo Tennis that feature motifs of Hello Kitty.
The location of this special space, Meetscal Store by Once a Month, is a new Parco concept store that is themed around different areas and countries and continues to deliver new discoveries. There theme is to “focus on and introduce interesting countries and interesting areas of Japan.” The store carefully selects fashion goods, accessories, and food items from Japan and the rest of the world made by designers all over the world. The object of focus this time is on Sanrio Puroland, which is a magical place that embodies “kawaii.”
There are many Hello Kitty goods in the store related to her 40th anniversary. Picking up considerable attention in the store are the collaboration items between Fabrick, a textile brand produced by Medicom Toy, Stereo Tennis, a graphic artist who has created many popular idol goods, and Hello Kitty. A highlight of these items––which include a PVC document case, mini tote bag, and wallet––is the contrast between the catchy outer design and the cute pink coloring on the inside.
If you can’t make it to this special shop, don’t worry. These Hello Kitty 40th anniversary products will be available for worldwide sale on the TOM Premium Shop!
Another noteworthy item to introduce is the Hello Kitty Revoltech. Figure maker Kaiyodo created this movable figure for the 40th anniversary project. In addition to this are many other usual Puroland candies and goods that you can’t get anywhere else available for purchase in Shibuya.
In response to this project, Suzuki, the manager of the store, had this to say, “Many overseas customers are coming to Shibuya Parco. I would like them to see and enjoy many of the stores. Tama, which also has a Sanrio Puroland, isn’t very far away, so I would like them to visit and if they have an interest in Hello Kitty, to also visit Puroland.”
