Broken Blade, to which six films were made between 2010 and 2011, will be brought to fans anew this spring. The TV series Broken Blade will begin airing in April on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, and BS11. The TV series will be a slightly different initiative and will be comprised of a restructuring of all six films spanning 12 episodes. The show promises uncut scenes not seen in the films.

One big highlight of the TV anime is likely to be the new additions to the films. There will also be new opening and ending theme songs. Likely to be largely talked about is the famous scene from the series, “Girge vs. Spartan unit,” which wasn’t included in the films being animated for the first time.

In charge of the new opening and ending themes are Sayaka Sasaki and Aira Yūki, respectively. These songs will breathe new life into the 2014 Broken Blade series.

In addition to this, a spin-off OVA project by the author of the series, Yūnosuke Yoshinaga, is also underway. This will tell the story of Delphine’s mysterious creation. It will be interesting to see how fans will respond to this. With this spin-off OVA of the TV series, Broken Blade is developing rapidly. Don’t take your eyes off of it after it begins airing in April.

Broken Blade is a popular manga by Yūnosuke Yoshinaga that is currently serialized in the web magazine Comic Meteor. Taking place on the Crouzon continent which has depleted its supply of fossil fuel, the story follows Rygart, an un-sorcerer who doesn’t possess the ability to move objects using magic, who gets caught in the strife between countries. The series is a huge hit, with over 2.5 million copies in print, and it became a leading bestseller when it was adapted from a webcomic into an anime. The anime––a mix of otherworldly mecha, action, and youth drama––is created by Production I.G and XEBEC with Tetsurō Amino as chief director and Nobuyoshi Habara as director.
