Southeast Asia’s largest Japanese pop culture event, Anime Festival Asia (AFA) 2013, will held from Nov. 8-10 at the Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Singapore.
AFA began in 2008 and last year attracted over 80,000 attendees. This year’s AFA Indonesia held in September was a huge success, and even greater success is anticipated from this iteration to be held in Singapore. This is a must-see event not just for fans of Japanimation in Southeast Asia, but fans worldwide!
A variety of stage events will take place at AFA 2013, beginning with “I Love Anisong” and the “AFA Regional Cosplay Championship.” There will also be an area called “Akiba Town” full of company booths at which attendees can purchase anime goods, a maid cafe and butler cafe, and more that Southeast Asia’s Japanese pop culture fans will be pleasantly surprised by. Many special guests are also planned to participate, including cosplayers, anime producers, and others.
One of the highlights of the event will be the concert “I Love Anisong” to be held on the main stage. The concert will span three days with different artists performing on each day. On the 8th will be Singapore-native idol Valerie, Egoist, and Hachioji-P. On the 9th will be Eir Aoi, May’n, and LiSA. On the 10th, Angela, Nana Mizuki, and T.M.Revolution will perform as part of the “Valvrave - Concert and Special Stage Segment.”
A huge number of top companies will be taking part in the booth area, including Animax, Bandai, Good Smile Company, and Sega. It is prospected that AFA 2013 Official merchandise will also be offered at the AFA shop.
