Oct. 14 was the birthday of Nitroplus’ concert mascot character, Super Sonico. Her birthday came after the previously announced TV anime SoniAni - Super Sonico the Animation. Many fans weren’t expecting anything to happen on this day, but in the end a surprise announcement was made. New information on the anime––including the studio producing the work, staff, and cast––was revealed.
The opening artist is none other than Super Sonico who will make her major debut with the anime’s theme song. Also, Super Sonico will play herself as part of the main cast and will be largely active in the anime. How will this differ from Sonico’s original 2D virtual existence? Moreover, just what song will she sing, and who will be in charge of her voice? The mystery deepens. Stay tuned for more updates.
White Fox, which created consecutive hits including Steins;Gate, Katanagatari, and The Devil is a Part-Timer!, is producing the anime. Staff members include Kenichi Kawamura as director, Yousuke Kuroda as scriptwriter, and Masafumi Tamura as character designer. The staff are challenging themselves to transition the characters and the world as they are into anime. Also, other than Sonico, three members of the cast have been revealed, though information on each character has yet to be announced. Mai Gotō will play Misuzu Fuji, Mami Ozaki will play Fūri Watanuki, and Ryota Takeuchi will play Manager Kitamura. Due to the extraordinarily popular characters, there are many points we are curious about, such as how they will be introduced in the anime. Don’t take your eyes off how this anime progresses.
