Current works like Sword Art Online (SAO), Accel World, A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Scientific Railgun, Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai, and the previous works Boogiepop Phantom, Shakugan no Shana, and Kino’s Journey have garnered popularity and fans worldwide. Each of these works also started as a light novel series. However, they have one more important point in common: They are each published by the entertainment novel label Dengeki Bunko. Because Dengeki Bunko has been in existence for 20 years, it has brought to the world a long list of masterpieces.
On Oct. 6, the Dengeki Bunko sponsored event Autumn Festival 2013 was held in Bellesalle Akihabara and the Akihabara UDX building. The event attracted roughly 78,000 people. In each location, the 20th anniversary of Dengeki Bunko was being celebrated with stage events, displays, and goods beings sold of the label’s most popular masterpieces. A huge number of fans gathered early in the morning on the day of the event before it even opened.
Stage events for Sword Art Online, A Certain Scientific Railgun S, Golden Time and Strike the Blood (the anime adaptations to which premiered this month), and other works were held at Akihabara UDX.
The main areas at Bellesalle Akihabara were displays and merchandise booths. Cover illustrations, figures, and more of Dengeki Bunko’s past and present light novel series were collected and on display. Even among the copious amounts of items on display, the one that noticeably stood out was a banner drawn by Kouhaku Kuroboshi. This banner that included 52 characters related to Dengeki Bunko light novels continually stopped fans in their tracks when their eyes were drawn to it.
Attendees also enjoyed gazing at the plethora of goods related to Dengeki Bunko works on display in the shop area.
Dengeki Bunko: FIGHTING CLIMAX, a fighting game that includes characters from Dengeki Bunko works, was also on display. Attendees who wanted to demo the game rushed to this area, and a long line quickly formed.
Autumn Festival 2013 also extended throughout Akihabara, authors and illustrators of Dengeki Bunko works held signing events in shops all over Akihabara.
Dengeki Bunko continues to put out noticeable works like Strike the Blood and Golden Time. Don’t miss out on what their next big hit will be!
