Kyoto Will Be Overrun with Otaku! Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2013 to Be Held in September

Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair (Kyo-maf) will be held for three days from Sept. 6-8. The event will only be open to industry guests on Sept. 6 and will then open to the general public beginning on Sept. 7. It will be open from 1 p.m. on the 6th and 9 a.m. on the 7th and 8th.

Kyo-maf is Western Japan’s largest manga and anime trade fair. Exhibiting at Kyo-maf are makers, businesses, and colleges from the Kansai region. The event was held for the first time last year, attracting more than 20,000 attendees over its three-day run.

The theme for this year’s event is “uniting with the future.” In addition to a joint partnership with Japan Expo, global projects are being developed, including a touring exhibit at which three panels created by illustrators and manga artists from Japan (Kyoto), France (Paris), and America (San Francisco) will be on display.

Also at the event will be booths from big-name companies in the anime and game industries, including Gainax and Capcom, as well as food and drink services like Animate Cafe and Shirokuma Cafe for attendees to enjoy. Furthermore, there is good news for overseas anime and manga fans. The entrance fee for Japanese attendees will be 1,000 yen, but for attendees from countries other than Japan, admission will be free! 1

That’s not all. There is even more good news. At this year’s event, TOM will have it’s own booth! At the booth, we will be selling goods created by our Special Creators. We will also be holding the “SUKI! Japan Campaign.” As a part of the campaign, we will be giving out one copy of our artbook of Special Creators' works titled Creation File: Vol. 1, one clear file folder, and three pin badges as presents.

This campaign is for those who live outside of Japan. In other words, you! However, you can only take part if you come to the event. To enter, you just have to tell us that you saw the campaign. For those who will be in Kyoto, head over to the TOM booth at Kyo-maf to take part! We hope to see you there!
