A special trailer for the anime Golden Time, the broadcast to which will begin this October, has been released along with information on the staff and cast.
Golden Time is the newest light novel by author Yuyuko Takemiya who is well known for Toradora!, another work that was turned into a hit anime. It is published by Dengeki Bunko (ASCII Media Works) and tells a comedic adolescent love story that puts the spotlight on college life, a rare theme for light novels.
The anime is being directed by Chiaki Kon who is praised for his unorthodox techniques and is known for his work on Higurashi When They Cry and the Nodame Cantabile series. Fumihiko Shimo of Air and Clannad fame is in charge of the series composition and script. The anime is being produced by J.C. Staff, the same company who produced the anime for Toradora!.
A special trailer of the anime has also been released in which Yui Horie can be heard as the voice of the character Kōko Kaga. Also, by looking at the school building and scenery used in the trailer, it seems they are steering clear of depicting the college used as the setting in the original work and are modeling the college used in the anime after the Ichigaya campus of Hosei University. This seems like it will create a new pilgrimage spot for anime fans, but since the location is a college, fans will have to bear in mind being courteous and considerate of the college’s faculty and students.
Even though it was broadcast in 2008, Toradora! still has a massive following, so the level of anticipation for this new anime is extremely high. Keep a lookout for more special reports to come.
