Macross F, an anime series that began broadcasting in 2008 and was later adapted into two movies, is, even now, considered by many fans to be a masterpiece. Under the supervision of chief director Shoji Kawamori, a Blu-ray box set of the work titled “Macross F Zentra Mori Blu-ray Box” will be released. The focal point of this box set to say the least is the compilation of all 25 digitally remastered episodes. The series will look better than it ever has before when this box set releases on Dec. 25.
Being supervised by Kawamori, this box set is being exquisitely crafted. In addition to including all 25 episodes of the anime, it will also include the preview version of the first episode that aired in December 2007 as well as the later completed version. An extended edition of episode 25 will also be included.
A plethora of bonus items will be included in the box set as well. Enclosed items include a newly produced drama CD, a gorgeous 100-page booklet, a 72-page deluxe illustration collection, and 48 pages of storyboards from the opening sequences. Videos from various media mix projects will be tightly packed as bonuses, including four new music video clips produced from pachinko and pachislo footage, five Joysound karaoke videos, and more. Audio bonuses will include recompiled audio commentary from the Blu-ray and DVD discs released so far, as well as newly recorded commentary from the staff and cast.
An appropriate collector’s item, this box set’s box art will be specially drawn by character designer Risa Ebata, with the inner jacket being drawn by both Ebata and director Kawamori. The box set will cost 33,600 yen (tax included). Pre-orders are being accepted until Nov. 17. Also, the box set will be a limited edition item that will only be sold until Dec. 24, 2014.
Macross F is an anime created to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Macross series. This Blu-ray box set is one plan to commemorate the series’ 30th anniversary. The anime is also a symbolic work in the series, and fans’ love of it crosses over generations. Together with rejoicing in the commemoration projects, fans are currently awaiting new developments in the series.
