“Is Japan Cool?” is a project aiming to make tours from abroad to Japan more colorful, and it is run by Japan’s biggest airline company, ANA (All Nippon Airways). They are carrying out various projects, such as introducing Japan’s culture and charms of certain destinations on a special site and advertising it worldwide. There, they introduce numerous aspects of “Cool Japan,” beginning with famous spots such as Tokyo and Okinawa, to the subcultures of “cosplay,” “kawaii,” and “traditions.” Thus, it is very popular with foreigners.
The special site was updated on July 4, and new content was added under the name of “Dreams.” As a part of “Dreams,” a special movie born through a collaboration with Toyota and Studio 4℃, and original animation project called “PES (Peace Eco Smile),” was released.
In this movie, they introduce the steps in the production process of anime, such as character design, storyboard, and original planning. The work’s road to completion is depicted by Studio 4℃’s high-quality visual expression.
“Dreams” also introduces information on various genres, such as the Fujiko F. Fujio Museum in Kanagawa Prefecture and the bike from Katsuhiro Otomo’s masterpiece, Akira, in an easy-to understand fashion using a lot of pictures and video footage.
In addition to the popular smartphone app called Otaku Camera developed by Tokyo Otaku Mode, familiar TOM creators such as the latte artist Mattsun and John Hathway, who made headphones from fantasy science, are introduced as well.
“Is Japan Cool?” enables users to vote by clicking the “Cool” button on content they thought was cool, so support TOM by voting on TOM’s content.
