On July 9, Namco Bandai Games released new information on the Nintendo 3DS game One Piece: Romance Dawn - Dawn of Adventure set to release on Aug. 8 in Japan.
Though the game is a port of the PSP game of the same name that released on Dec. 20, 2012 and went on to sell over 300,000 copies, the 3DS version will have new functionality that makes use of the system’s hardware. It has been revealed that one such function will be the “Dash” function that makes use of the 3DS’ dual screens and lets players conveniently explore the map. Another improvement is that the balance of the game’s difficulty has been adjusted. This includes changes to enemies’ strength and the chance of obtaining raw synthesis items.
Romance Dawn brings to life the world of One Piece, and the story features many of the abundantly comical characters from the series. Also, many of the series’ most famous scenes have been recreated using new animation in the game. Playable characters change throughout the game and include Luffy and his friends, allowing players to explore the recreated world of One Piece to the very end. The settings in the series have also all been reproduced in 3D. The game covers many popular episodes from the original manga, including the “East Blue Arc,” “Alabaster Arc,” “Enies Lobby Arc,” and more. The character models are also gorgeously reproduced in a realistic style. Characters even take realistic damage in battle! The game blends 2D animations with 3D event CG. Enjoy this finely crafted world from One Piece again!
Battles in the game will include struggles to the death against formidable enemies. Many powerful enemies that the Straw Hat Pirates struggle against in the series appear in the game as field bosses. The intense battle action and the various dialogue scenes intensely joined together within boss battles are not to be missed!
